Mayor’s Office of Cultural Affairs During FIFA World Cup

Filmmaker Christian Nolan Jones to Headline Special Film Screenings and Storytelling Experience

ATLANTA (June 8, 2026) – On Set ATL, a nonprofit organization dedicated to elevating independent filmmakers in Atlanta, has been invited by the Mayor’s Office of Cultural Affairs to host “A Night on theEastside” with Christian Nolan Jones at The Atlanta Cultural Exchange on Sunday, June 14, 2026, from 3 to 4 p.m.

The free public event will feature screenings and a conversation centered on Jones’ acclaimed short films Red Clay and Glitter Ain’t Gold, offering audiences a powerful storytelling experience rooted in Atlanta’s culture, history, and identity.

As Atlanta welcomes visitors from around the world during the 2026 FIFA World Cup, The Atlanta Cultural Exchange will serve as the spotlight for live culture, creative performance, and global dialogue. Running from June 14 through July 14, the month-long celebration will bring together artists, entrepreneurs, and innovators who have defined Atlanta and inspired the world.

In addition to On Set ATL, The Atlanta Cultural Exchange will feature activations from Amazon, Google, Conversate with Killer Mike, ONE Musicfest, Devyne Stephens, Trinidad James, Imani Ellis with CultureCon, The Atlanta Voice, Clark Atlanta University, and many others.

“We are excited to be a part of The Atlanta Cultural Exchange and curate an experience that celebrates our city’s voices, stories, and cultural perspectives poised to shape the future of cinema,” said Jhaneal Hector who co-founded On Set ATL with Martina Lindo. “Through special screenings and an introspective conversation with filmmaker Christian Nolan Jones, we look forward to exploring how independent film preserves culture, reflects identity, and creates opportunities for emerging creatives determined to tell authentic stories.”

Co-written and produced by 2Chainz and Omar Epps and directed by Jones, Red Clay follows a conflicted teenager navigating adolescence while coping with his mother’s drug addiction in early-2000s Atlanta. Written and directed by Jones, Glitter Ain’t Gold stars Priah Ferguson (Netflix’s Stranger Things) in a coming-of-age story that honors the beauty of 1990s Atlanta and the unique experiences of its youth.

“The Atlanta Cultural Exchange is an opportunity for Atlanta to showcase the creativity, cultural achievements, and vibrant community we have cultivated for generations,” said Mayor Andre Dickens (AtlantaCulturalExchange.com). “The Exchange is designed to provide a platform where local artists, performers, and storytellers can celebrate Atlanta excellence on a local stage while amplifying their voices on a global scale.”

Featuring conversations with industry leaders and cultural icons in music, fashion, film, visual arts, entrepreneurship, gaming, and more, The Atlanta Cultural Exchange will celebrate the people, places, and ideas that make Atlanta one of the world’s most influential cultural capitals.

For On Set ATL, participation in The Atlanta Cultural Exchange represents a valuable opportunity to highlight Atlanta’s thriving independent film community before an international audience and inspire the next generation of storytellers.
